Yes there is!
In a sense, there is a Department of Social Security. Some refer to it as the Social Security System
It is formally called the Social Security Administration.
Often referred to in government as the SSA it is the official body that ultimately controls the greatest part of America's social funding programs.
Social Security is
A social insurance program that gets it's funding from Federal Insurance Contributions Act tax (FICA) payroll taxes.
The money to fund the Department of Soc. Sec. comes out of our taxes.
These are not the same taxes that go to pay for SSI or Supplemental Security Income.
The Social Security Administration has offices in most major cities.

As I get older I think about how I will retire and what money I will be able to get my hands on when I do.
Social Security makes me feel a lot more confident about extra money to live on as the years take away the stamina that my body had, and the mental sharpness that I have lived with for so long.
